The Stance 102 is one of Salomon’s most revered daily chargers. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more engaging ski for every corner of the mountain. The more advanced skiers out there, looking for a stable ride that gives back what you put in, will be grinning like the Grinch on Christmas with the Stance 102. It’s great for hunting fresh lines in the morning and heading to the front side for a few groomer laps in the afternoon. It’s all on the table.
Looking at the shape of the ski, it’s easy to see that Salomon designed it to be useful in a variety of conditions. The all-mountain profile features 21-percent rocker in the tip and a 15-percent rockered tail, leaving us with 64-percent camber underfoot. That amounts to a more directional ski with a traditional mounting point and a long effective edge that allows you to hold a turn on the hardpack. Yet, the rockered tip allows this ski to cruise on deep snow and navigate turn through crud.
The karuba and poplar wood core has a Titanal layer on either side of it, called TwinFrame2, creating a wood sandwich between the base and topsheet. This combination is exceptionally powerful and damp, enabling confident and precise skiing all over the mountain.
Our testers took the Stance 102 out from dawn till dusk and returned with high praises. “For the rider who wants a firm ski that can take all the energy you give to it, the Stance is a great alternative to the QST line,” commented one tester. “This ski rips crud and soft snow and has a fun and playful vibe on groomers.”
Take our word for it—this responsive ski with exceptional edge control and grip will have you eager to take it out every day.
