PIEPS Micro Review – 2017
While hearing the words, “Your device is small,” may bum some folks out, it’s certainly welcome when it refers to an avalanche beacon. The all-new PIEPS Micro is the smallest, lightest three-antenna avalanche beacon on the market. Despite being tiny and featherweight (it weighs 150 grams with batteries) the Micro has a big display for easy reading and a maximum search range of 40 meters. In search mode, once a transmission is detected, the beacon will vibrate to let you know you’re on the right path, and its auto-search-to-send function will swap the beacon from search to transmit mode after a period of inactivity, in case of an additional burial.
