Icelantic completely revamped the Nomad collection this year and it’s the most significant redesign of a line that the brand has ever done. For 2024-25, the Nomad 106 features a slightly more symmetrical tip and tail, with deep rocker for effortless float in powder and more intuitive switch skiing. The longer effective edge is complemented by 4 mm of camber underfoot, which means this 106-mm plank can throw down a nasty carve for its girth.
The brand also adjusted the tip and tail construction, along with ski’s shape, to reduce swing weight and increase confidence when spinning. Most notably, Icelantic added four carbon stringers above and below the poplar wood core for more pop and play and an incredible rebound from edge-to-edge and tip-to-tail. Topping it off, Icelantic added a more modern, forward mounting point.
“The Nomad 106 is a Swiss Army knife of a ski that can tackle anything and everything on the mountain,” one tester noted. “It loves to pivot, slash and send airs all over. I took it down a rather steep and tight, feature-filled chute in deep snow and it was an absolute blast. This ski hits the sweet spot of a stable and sendy plank that can slash all over the mountain while maintaining control when hitting the gas through choppy, straight lines. An amazing tool for all-mountain freeriding.”
From an aesthetic perspective, Icelantic has always been known for its thoughtful and artistic approach to topsheet designs and the new Nomad 106 is no exception, featuring Travis Parr’s tribute to the desert scenes of the Wild West. Giddy-up cowboy, these Nomads are ready to run.
