ELAN RIPSTICK 94 W REVIEW — 2017
With a goal of providing flawless turn initiation, Elan built the Ripstick 94 W with traditional camber on the inner edge for better grip and stability, and rockered outside edges for easier transitions between turns. Testers were pleasantly surprised. “The asymmetrical shape is definitely welcomed when carving,” said one. “Sturdy turning ski. Easy to initiate and held strong for the entire turn,” remarked another. For even more carving proficiency, Elan utilizes dual hollow, 5-millimeter-diameter carbon tubes in the poplar laminated wood core; the tubes run the length of the ski and follow the arc of the sidecut for torsional strength. Lightweight composite material in the tips aids in vibration reduction, as well.
*Ski dimensions are for the 163.
