Dynafit jumped headfirst into the freeride market this year with the Dynafit Chugach Skis, and our testers praised its efforts. One individual summed it up nicely: “Rages hard inbounds, light for touring and stable rocker profile.” A combination of burly, high-strength ash and lightweight poplar in the core helps shed weight while still keeping the ski damp and stable. Its double ellipse rocker—an elliptical curve that runs from the waist to the tip taper point—produces varying effective edge lengths to cater to different terrain. This bolsters edge hold on steep, variable lines without loss of playfulness. In-short: It’s a lightweight touring machine that still rages when it’s time to descend.
