In order to seamlessly integrate the flex pattern and sidecut of its new Foundation skis, DPS built each pair from the binding area outward. Focusing on the gut of the ski right under the foot lends to power, easy turn initiation and edge hold. Inside of the Nina 99, DPS paired poplar and bamboo for rigidity and pop without added weight, and sandwiched them between triaxial fiberglass and unidirectional carbon for added torsional rigidity and strength. Testers were wowed by the Foundation build, making comments such as “poppy, quick turning sticks with great edge control” and “strong and sturdy ski, really great shape.”
