Black Pearl 94
Blizzard
$749.99
Blizzard went ahead and threw the age-old sentiment, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” right out the window, creating the next evolution of the Black Pearl. The widest in the collection, the Black Pearl 94 effectively replaces the old Black Pearl 97 and comes in a huge range of lengths, from 152 cm all the way up to 176 cm. Maintaining the true spirit of the Black Pearl and Blizzard’s Women-to-Women (W2W) program, the ski inspires every woman who clicks into it to be the absolute boss of her ski day.
The Black Pearl collection is tailored for intermediate-to-advanced skiers. The 94 gravitates toward Western ski resorts, while the 88 and 84 cater more to the East Coast slaydies. These models utilize Blizzard’s WSD TrueBlend all-mountain wood core, which makes the ski more carving-oriented than the playful, freeride-oriented Sheeva series. But the Black Pearl 94 is still versatile enough to enjoy every type of terrain you can get into at the resort. Compared to the previous Black Pearl 97, the new 94 features a touch more tip and tail rocker while maintaining a long, effective edge for confident arcing.
“This ski loves groomers. The front of the mountain is its jam. Set an edge, and the ski just comes around,” raved one of our testers. “On steeps and at a moderate speed, the ski could be driven to handle turns in the chopped, off-piste conditions.”
Deeper snow and storm leftovers aren’t exactly where the Black Pearl excels, but if you’re looking for a ski that gives you the confidence to build your skills in more challenging terrain and firmer snow, the Black Pearl 94 may just be the ski for you.
