It’s that time of year—when the top names in skiing converge on one of the craziest slopestyle courses for one of the rowdiest contests out there, the Audi Nines.
Adding to the tangible excitement for this year’s event in Sölden, Austria on April 14, event officials have added a one-of-a-kind “SlopeX” racecourse aimed at challenging slopestyle skiers and racers alike.
Competitors from around the world will have five days prior to the public competition—formerly known as the Nine Knights and Queens—on the 14th to learn the ins and outs of the amazing new course, which runs nearly 3,000 feet and has a vertical drop of 1,000 feet; features a multi-option quarter pipe feature with four take-offs and two 60-foot-tall landings; two big air jumps; and the finish will be another 120-foot jump leading into a unique 60-foot high 180-degree turn. If that wasn’t enough, instead of a finish line there will be a “Ninja Warrior” styled buzzer to mark the winner of each race—kawabunga!
Featured skiers will include two-time Olympic Halfpipe Gold Medalist David Wise, Noah Albaladejo, Oystein Braaten, Bene Mayr, Andri Ragettli, Jesper Tjäder and more.
If last year’s event is any indication, Audi Nines 2018 will be sure to entertain.
