Vincent Gagnier – 2015 X Games Aspen Big Air Gold Medalist

It’s official: X Games is crossing the pond and headed to Oslo, Norway in 2015-16. Slated for February 24-28 of next year, Oslo will host both summer and winter sports at the same event—a first in X Games history. ESPN, ESPN3 and TV2-Norway will host the live televised broadcast of the multiple disciplines, including ski and snowboard big air (men and women); ski and snowboard superpipe (men and women); skateboard street (men and women); and more.

“Oslo is going to be the winter sport capitol of the world, and we look forward to having the world’s elite in Oslo in February,” said Hallstein Bjercke, Oslo’s vice mayor of cultural affairs and business development. “I’m confident this will inspire young Norwegians to strap into skis and boards and get out to the hill.”

Tim Reed, ESPN X Games vice president, added: “We’re very excited to team up with TV2 and SAHR Concepts, and commend the Oslo city government for its support in helping make X Games Oslo a reality. We look forward to showcasing some of the world’s best athletes in one of the most unique and dynamic cities with a rich history in winter sports and impressive list of top homegrown athletes.”

Never fear, freeskiing fans. The winter X Games will also be hosted on American soil this year. X Games Aspen returns for the 15th straight year in good ol’ Aspen, CO. The event is scheduled for January 28-31, 2016.

Tickets for the Oslo X Games will be available for purchase on December 1. Stay tuned for further information.
