The new Arva EVO4 Avalanche Transceiver is an affordable beacon for those just beginning to venture into the backcountry. The three-antennae transceiver has a 40-meter maximum search range, a multiple burial marking function, displayed as “1,” “2,” “3” and “+,” and a five-year warranty in case of damage. For those forgetful types, the beacon automatically enters transmit mode when clipped in around your chest. Standard beacon checks still apply, though.
