Clayton Vila’s career unfolds in prelude to 2014 solo project, “Five”

This fall, street skier and editor/cinematographer Clayton Vila is bomb-dropping his way into the ski movie scene with a new solo project titled Five. To build hype around the film, Vila just released A Career Reflection, a documentary portraying who the real Clayton Vila is and how he came to be. From shredding the gnarly terrain parks of the East Coast, to conquering the unthinkable elements of the streets, and now showcasing his talents on the other side of the lens—Vila proves he can do it all.

“I’ve always wanted to just show people how I came to be, why I stopped competing, and what street actually means to me. I made this film because I want to put out the best skiing that I possibly can, but at the same time I’m trying to do something different in the film world, from a director’s standpoint,” Vila claims in a FREESKIER exclusive interview.

Come this fall, I’m sure we can expect something really f’ing sick, as the Rhode Island native splits time between skiing and filming in his new project. Keep your eyes and ears open for the movie and be sure to read the rest of our interview with Vila in the October issue of FREESKIER mag, hitting newsstands on September 20. In the meantime, enjoy the 10-minute prelude of what’s to come.
