Press Release
EIRA™, the international ski outerwear and clothing brand developed in Canada, is pleased to announce the addition of freeskier Matt Walker to the pro team roster.
A native of Colorado, Matt has been skiing since the age of two. He became obsessed with freeskiing at the age of 11 after witnessing his first 180 on twin tips and officially started his freeskiing career five years later, winning the Young Gun Open in 2006.
Matt Walker’s career highlights include 1st place at the Aspen Open in 2008, 1st place at Kick Aspen Big Air in 2012, 4th place at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge, Colorado in 2012 and most recently 11th place at the X Games in Aspen.
With film segments like “The Eighty Six” by Stept Productions and Poor Boyz Productions “The Grand Bizarre” under his belt, Walker is currently focused on major competitions and regaining his Top 10 AFP ranking. Matt’s plans for this year include competing at World Cup events to attain the points needs for next year’s Olympic qualifiers and filming movie segments for Poor Boyz Productions and Level One.
“Matt Walker is one of the best all around skiers out there,” says Team Manager, Peter Olenick. “He’s great on urban rails, in slopestyle competitions and backcountry segments. I am very excited to have him join the Eira Team.”
Matt Walker will round out the Eira™ ski team consisting of Peter Olenick, Ian Cosco, Joe Schuster, Mack Jones, and Max Moffatt. Eira™ is extremely excited to have Matt onboard and look forward to supporting him this season.
