We’re sitting here at Ahmet Dadali and Mike Hornbeck’s Summit County palace with Ashley Battersby. The Utah native is in Colorado training her butt off at Keystone and Breckenridge. We huddled around my laptop for a few minutes and this is what she had to say…
FS: Hoop earrings tonight? What was the motivation behind this choice?
AB: I’m Lataina, I got these from Gen-X in Salt Lake. All the kids go there. A bunch of Spanish speaking folks work there, Cosco and I fit right in when we walk in. Jossi wells, not so much. He enters the store and the music stops. He’s always trying to buy those hoodies with the foil hundred-dollar bills on them.
FS: Those kiwis, so gangster. Mean as oi! So where you looking to ride out here?
AB: Keystone and Breck. There is so much snow, it is so sick. Things are a little bonier back home, so I’m stoked to be here.
FS: What are you looking to accomplish during your visit here? Some sweet pro-skier hookups? Cop some goggle tan? Download some illegal music? Get hyphy? What’s the deal?
AB: I sleep around! You should see my little black book. Mad names. Just kidding. Well, it has been puking snow since I got here, my computer is broken and my boyfriend is lame so I guess I’ll be working on some sweet jumps.
FS: Sweet jumps? Elaborate…
AB: I’ll save those details for when they put womens slopestyle in the X Games. (Shakes fist wildly in air.)
FS: Superbad is on in the background. Have you seen it?
AB: Hell yeah, I took Ian (Cosco) to it at the drive in for his birthday!

AB: Ha ha ha ha, priceless line. Did you know that guy is 26 years old, you know the fat kid. He doesn’t look that old.
FS: I’m 26, don’t hate on the babyface guys! So what are you looking forward to most this season?
AB: Filming with MSP and Rage. Working on nailing down a full segment this season. I’ll be making the comp circuit as well.
FS: What did you do this summer to prepare for this season?
AB: Water ramping at Park City, I was in the gym almost every day. Feeling really buff right now. Feel these guns! I also went to Wanaka (NZ), Kaya and I were getting it all summer! It was sick training with her. It’s such a bummer she got hurt again.
