Cycle For A Cause – Approaching the Finish

Cycle For A Cause – Approaching the Finish

A group of true road warriors has been peddling the Pacific Coast Highway of California for over three weeks now. Rain or shine they have been grinding through the miles, all in the names of Billy Poole, Riley Poor and Shane McConkey. And now they are approaching the finish!

Their efforts are a huge undertaking and serve as inspiration for the skiing community at large and beyond. This is a completely heroic ride, both in its inspirational vision for bringing our community together… and in it’s sheer physical challenge.

Led by Max Kusaj, Cody Barnhill, Angeli VanLaanen, Pep Fujas and many more, this group of friends has been peddling for 20 days straight to raise money and awareness around the Shane McConkey Fund, The Billy Poole Foundation and for Riley Poor’s continuing recovery from the spinal cord injury he suffered last year.

Here is a statement from Max, the Founder:
“I have been involved in the ski industry as a passionate athlete for nearly the past 10 years. These years have been full of amazing experiences…highs…lows…laughs… and even tears. The people I have met along the way in this journey of life have molded me into the person that I am today. Thank you to everyone. This ride is for you. But with that said, this charity ride is especially for Riley, Billy and Shane. You guys never let me forget the most important thing in life, to follow your dreams.”

The latest reports from the road tell us that Sherry and Ayla McConkey have checked in with the group to lend some inspiration and a few days on the road peddling!

Other recent additions include Tal Fletcher, Tom Dolezel and recent Freeskier cover girl Suzanne Graham – all peddling for the cause.
