Press Release, Aspen/Snowmass, Colo. – Nov. 5, 2012 – Registration is now live for the Aspen/Snowmass Freeskiing Open, formerly known as the Aspen/Snowmass Open. The Aspen/Snowmass Freesking Open is an Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) Gold sanctioned event and FIS Noram Cup event. The event has a generous prize purse of over $25,000 to be awarded. The format will be similar to previous years only this year the event will exclusively host skiers on the X Games Aspen slopestyle course and superpipe.

“By partnering with both the AFP and FIS Freestyle we are able to give athletes the opportunity to earn points towards both the Olympic qualification process and the AFP world rankings,” said Cat Leonaitis, Aspen/Snowmass Open Event Manager. “We are excited to be one of four NORAM CUP events in the US and look forward to being a part of the future of freeskiing as it takes shape. The Aspen/Snowmass Open has long been a partner with the AFP and we think the addition of FIS sanctioning brings even more value to our athletes in the face of an ever-growing competition calendar.”
