X Games Day 2: More Superpipe Slaying

X Games Day 2: More Superpipe Slaying

A cold, clear sky marked the 2nd evening of practice for the men and women of superpipe fame. Tonight brought bigger airs, more tricks (some new) and a tiny bit of carnage. Rather than tell you how the pipe skis, I’ll let a few of the athletes tell you:

“I like that it’s a very big pipe with high walls, but it’s crazy because I have to figure out a couple of new tricks because there are so many hits. But the shape is perfect.” – AJ Kemppainen

“The X Games pipe this year is primo. A lot bigger than past years which enables us to go bigger than in a normal 18-ft pipe. This year’s competitions is going to be the craziest pipe comp to date. Stay tuned!” – Jossi Wells

“The pipe is scary like a girlfriend’s dad in the morning, but kind and forgiving like her sweet ass.” – Peter Olenick.

“This is the most technical pipe I have ever skied. the new shape is amazing, once I got used to it. In short, the pipe is fun, fast and huge!” – Angeli Van Laanen

“The pipe is pretty much perfect right now. It got a little baked on the left wall today, but it’s still really good. I’m stoked.” -Tanner Hall

“The X Games pipe is almost as sexy as Shannon Elizabeth in American Pie. The walls are equal and perfectly shaped.” – Matt Margetts

“There isn’t much to say about this pipe. It’s perfect, it has always been perfect and it will always be perfect.” – Sarah Burke

“It’s big and hard.” – Justin Dorey

Check back tomorrow for a slopestyle preview tomorrow afternoon and men’s superpipe elimination tomorrow evening.
