Descente North America Partners with The V Foundation for Cancer Research

Descente North America has partnered with The V Foundation in a collaborative effort to raise support and awareness for cancer research amongst a core group of ski enthusiasts.

Ogden, UT, April 17th, 2008 – Descente North America (DNA) is proud to announce their partnership with The V Foundation in support of Cancer Research. The DNA Evolution Tour will begin May 17th in Ogden, Utah and serve as a kick off to the new partnership. The Evolution Tour is a snowless traveling rail jam that will stop in 30 different cities throughout the U.S. seeking the best amateur ski and snowboard athletes in each city.
The Evolution Tour originated in 2007 to promote the premier image and lifestyle of DNA clothing. It has grown into the biggest amateur event in freeskiing. With a huge crowd attendance and a successful year behind them, DNA offers a new canvas in raising awareness for cancer research. “This will bring a unique opportunity to support a great cause in a less conventional atmosphere”, said Curt Geiger, President of DNA.
“The V Foundation is proud to join Descente North America in spreading the word about the importance of cancer research to a younger audience. If we are ever going to defeat this disease, it’s imperative that this group join us in the fight against cancer”, said Nick Valvano, Chief Executive Officer of The V Foundation.
The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jimmy Valvano, legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and ESPN commentator. The V Foundation awards 100 percent of all new direct cash donations and net proceeds of events directly to cancer research and related programs. For the fifth consecutive year, this foundation has received a top 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s premiere evaluator of charities.
Both companies are looking forward to making a difference by spreading the importance of cancer research through out the ski and snowboard industry. Proceeds raised from the Evolution Tour will go directly to The V Foundation.
