The fifth and final scratch ticket has been won (via the online contest), and this one goes to Black Hills State student, 20-year-old Maxwell Erpenbach, originally of Souix Falls, South Dakota.
Hailing from the Northern part of the US, Maxwell heard about the online contest, “from [his] buddy Andrew ‘Cheese D!@#’ Pearson,” but never thought he had a chance with the odds being so astronomical. “I entered a lot, but I never thought I’d be picked.”
When Maxwell found out he had won, he didn’t hesitate to celebrate. “Words cannot describe [how I felt], I yelled for about 20 minutes then continued to hyperventilate for about 30 more minutes,” says Erpenbach. Because despite living in the north-midwest where snow and terrain are, to say the least, not death-defying, Erpenbach yearns for more. “I like big mountains with steep and deep powder,” he says.
Well, Maxwell will be off to Seattle to compete with the other four Golden Ticket winners in hopes of winning Free Skis For Life. “I’m beyond stoked,” enamors Erpenbach. “K2 skis is a passionate ski company. And Seth Morrison is an icon in the world of backcountry skiing.” And if Maxwell were to win the contest, what would his first pick be? “If it’s possible I would love the McConkey tribute pontoon.”
