Flying? Don’t Go United

United Airlines has announced that the company will charge an additional $25 for a second checked piece of luggage on most flights. The new policy applies to nonrefundable domestic economy class tickets (the kind of ticket that most of us buy to go on ski trips). Some passengers will be exempt from the charge, including Mileage Plus members with premier status or higher and Star Alliance passengers with silver status or higher. The fee will be collected when you check in.

Obviously, if you are a skier, you’ll most likely end up paying the fee, as most skiers travel with their normal bag plus a ski bag. Get ready to pay if you fly United!.

If you are heading to Canada or Europe or mountains farther afield, you won’t have to pay. United – for now – will allow two checked bags for free when you are flying on an international itineraries.

While the new policy isn’t aimed at skiers, there’s no doubt that most of us will end up paying more if we fly United. The answer is simple. BOYCOTT UNITED!
