Skiing officially started in Colorado today, October 10th, at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area.

We’ll have the usual photos of crowds battling the icy ribbon of death later on today, when the crew gets back from the hill. But those of use who were stuck in the office on deadline for the December issue got a nice surprise from Colorado Ski Country USA: opening day cake.

Loveland is likely to be the next to open, but no word yet when that’ll happen.
