Skiing at Vail

Vail Mountain offers more than 5,300 acres of skiable terrain that’s divided into three main zones: the Front Side, the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin, each offering unique terrain and challenges.

The Front Side of Vail is ideal for beginners and intermediates, with wide, groomed trails and gentle runs. Beginners can start at Golden Peak or Eagle’s Nest, which offer a variety of options. Runs like Practice Parkway and Born Free provide a gentle introduction to skiing with stunning views.

Intermediate skiers have plenty of options with trails such as Simba and Berries, offering long, scenic runs with manageable pitches. The Game Creek Bowl, located just off the Front Side, provides rolling blue runs like Lost Boy, perfect for intermediates looking to step up their game.

For advanced and expert skiers, the Back Bowls offer more than 3,000 acres of wide-open, steep and challenging terrain. For experts seeking more solitude and adventure, Blue Sky Basin delivers. With glades, powder and steep trails like Steep and Deep and Champagne Glades are favorites. The Basin’s natural features make it feel like a backcountry experience while remaining lift-served.
