Sking at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
This place is the real deal – 2,500 acres of terrain and a vertical drop that puts most resorts to shame. However, novice skier’s shouldn’t let Jackson’s hardcore reputation scare them off. The resort has put an emphasis on including all skill levels in recent years, including a dedicated lodge, Solitude Station, on its beginner terrain. Teewinot and Eagle’s Rest lifts are great places to start if you’re easing into your turns. From there, you can graduate to the blue runs off of Apres Vous and Casper lifts.
More advanced skiers will want to head toward the top of the mountain via the tram, Thunder and Sublette lifts. From Thunder, check out the Hoops Gap ad Riverton Bowl. Off Sublette, zip down to Pepi’s Ridge from which you can drop into the Alta Chutes on one side or Bird in Hand on the other. From the Big Red tram, you can score some sweet pow turns in Rendezvous bowl before heading down to the famous Hobacks or dipping into the Northwoods for some protected pow runs. From the tram or gondola you can also access the boot packs that will take you up the headwall. From there, ski right back down the headwall if it’s still fresh or traverse over to Casper Bowl and the Crags for some more feature-rich terrain.
