Getting There

The Gunnison-Crested Butte Airport (GUC), just a 30-minute drive from Crested Butte. Airlines such as United and American provide direct flights to and from major cities like Denver and Houston. For more flight options, Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) is just about 2 hours away and hosts carriers like United, American and Delta. Ground transportation options from both airports include car rentals and shuttle services like Alpine Express.

If you choose to drive during the winter some roads leading to Crested Butte, such as Kebler Pass and Cottonwood Pass, are closed, but Highway 50 and SR 135 provide reliable access. From Denver it takes about 4.5 hours to make the journey and thankfully you’re off the crowded I70 corridor.

Once in Crested Butte, visitors can easily navigate the town without a car thanks to free bus services, which run between the ski area and Downtown Parking in Crested Butte is relatively straightforward but can be limited during busy winter months, particularly near the resort and in the town center. Public parking lots are available, and a mix of short-term and long-term options exist, such as spaces in the Four-Way lot, where skiers can park for extended periods. The town enforces residential parking regulations and visitors can get permits for longer stays. Skiers can also use shuttle services from parking areas further from the resort, or utilize free public buses during peak times.
