The Cruise 30 is a practical and comfortable pack for daily adventures in the mountains. On the front you’ll find an asymmetrical zipper leading to an organizational pocket for snow safety tools which also has room for any wet gear you may have. The brain of the pack includes and inner and outer stash pocket and unclipping it leads you through two drawstring closures and into the roomy main compartment, at the back of which is a sleeve for a hydration bladder.

When you’re on snow and want to get into the main compartment,  throw the pack down on its front and unclip the shoulder straps to zip in from the back side – a very nice feature that keeps the back panel dry for when you throw it back on.The hydration bladder and tube are contained within the section that flips up so as to not interfere with this operation. Also contained in that section is a pull out foam mat that can be used as a cushion but this might be considered a little superfluous for most of us.

The carrying system is stable and ergonomic. Once the shoulder straps are clipped back in, they sit very comfortably while the pack hugs your back and a lightweight frame keeps everything in place. A padded hip belt also helps bear the weight of the pack and an emergency whistle on the sternum strap is a nice touch in case of emergency. Skis are attached A-frame style and Deuter included an exterior pocket for skins or a water bottle and a few extra gear loops for carrying other equipment. The exterior features are well thought out and add functionality without overdoing it.
