Looking forward to winter 2022-23, core consumers continue to put a premium on high-performance, technical outerwear. Three-layer, breathable and waterproof shells still reign supreme in the minds of our FREESKIER audience and layering is a key component to a comfortable day outdoors. Along with highly breathable, waterproof, performance-minded apparel, sustainability is a trend that is also gaining more momentum: Brands and consumers, alike, are willing to shell out a bit more money to create and purchase products they believe are friendlier to the environment. Here, we’ve rounded up the best new outerwear, midlayers and baselayers going on sale next year.

Recon Stretch Insulated Shell & Recon Stretch Insulated Pants: Built to provide extra warmth on lift days or sub-zero backcountry tours, the Recon Stretch Insulation Shell utilizes zoned insulation to trap body heat in key areas while remaining breathable on panels prone to overheating. The shell’s durable four-way stretch fabric is combined with Black Diamond’s waterproof/breathable solution, BD.dry, to deliver a jacket ready for both in and out-of-bounds missions.
