Trailer Time ’24: FREESKIER’s Ultimate Guide to Ski Movie Teasers

Once again, the summer has begun to slip away. While some people dread this time of year, we know that you, dear reader, get an intangible excitement as the leaves turn from green to gold. Grabbing your favorite hoodie from its warm-weather resting place, feeling that chill in the evening air, longingly looking at your skis as they stand in the corner of your garage… all these signs and more can only mean one thing – ski movie season has arrived.

As film tour dates are announced, we want to make sure you’re prepared for the options that await you on the big screen. That’s why we’ve created another installment of Trailer Time: FREESKIER’s Ultimate Guide to Ski Movie Teasers. Below you’ll find a collection of trailers for some of the most anticipated films of the fall. May it serve you well as you set out and get fired up for winter.

Editor’s Note: This is an evolving list, and will be updated as more trailers are released in the coming weeks.

“Calm Beneath Castles” – Matchstick Productions

MSP has honed in on the freeride film this year. You’ll find massive lines and some of the best in the game in “Calm Beneath Castles.” This one’s going to be a heater!

“WASTELAND” – Level 1 Productions

Level 1’s 25th anniversary film, “WASTELAND,” has a stacked cast and two incredible directors in Owen Dahlberg and Andrew Mildenberger. Be sure to catch it on the Level 1 Freeski Film Tour.

“Feel It All” – Drew Petersen

While “Feel It All” is now available to watch online, we thought it absolutely deserved a shoutout on this list. Drew Petersen is bringing his message of mental health awareness to audiences everywhere in this must-watch film.

“Unwritten” – Novia Productions

Directed by Ellie Huff, “Unwritten” showcases a score of talented female riders and engaging cinematography. The young guns at Novia Productions are continuing to bring creative filmmaking to the wide world of freeskiing.

“STASIS” – Svea Irving & Griffin Glendinning

This 16mm film is an incredible surrealist adventure. Directed by Griffin Glendinning, “STASIS” follows Svea Irving in her first full film. It’s a must-watch for skiers and cinephiles alike.

“Mountain in My Mind 3” – John Padilla

Back for a third installment, “Mountain In My Mind 3” is continuing to advance the conversation about mental health in the American West. Catch John Padilla and friends on tour this fall.

“SPLIFF” – Dylan Siggers, Liam Morgan and LINE

It’s Burrrlapz… kind of? “SPLIFF” is a new short film from Dylan Siggers, Liam Morgan and LINE Skis. You won’t find a big narrative plot here, just a group looking to Spread Positive Loving Intimacy, for Friends.

“OIWAI” – Laurent De Martin & Sampo Vallotton

Here you’ll find a celebration of riding in Japan, captured with precision and care. “OIWAI” looks like it will be an absolute pleasure to watch, as LDM, Sampo and the Simply.RC crew continues to create projects that encapsulate their unique riding.

“Beyond The Fantasy” – Teton Gravity Research

Skiers and snowboarders on the same team! “Beyond The Fantasy” features a few new names mixed with familiar faces from TGR. Is there a plot? Is that Tony Soprano in the white robe? All these questions and more will be answered soon enough.

“Delirium” – Rudy Lepine & Level 1 Productions

“Delirium” is the second collaboration between Rudy Lepine and Level 1, capturing modern street skiing in a thoughtful way through the visions of Lepine and Tristian Steen.

“Brap Ski 4” – Karl Fostvedt

Crazy Karl is back with the fourth installment of “Brap Ski,” and this one looks like it might be the best yet! With a talented lineup of skiers and some unique locations, this film should be high on your list.

“Soda.” – Entourage

The fifth film from Entourage looks like another doozy. From snorkel-worthy pow to the streets and back again, with a soundtrack played entirely by the 1001 band, this one should be high on your radar.

“Passages” – Charlotte & Coline Ballet-Baz

“Passages” explores a small town sitting next to the French & Italian border. Migrant populations use the area for passage, while skiers hunt for lines in the high Alps. Coline Ballet-Baz explores these different realities.

“BEYOND” – HEAD & Tyrolia Team

Hot off the success of their first team film, the crew from HEAD and Tyrolia are back. The music is cheesy and the lines look absolutely incredible, so we’re fired up for it.

“CAMP BLANK” – Blank Collective Films

School’s out and it’s time for Camp Blank; a big mountain and freeride feast for the senses. And hey, was that Mike f*cking Douglas?

“JOY” – Hugo Laugier & Jeremy Pancras

This was Hugo Laugier’s first season fully focused on skiing… if you can believe that! Directed by Jeremy Pancras, this film is a documentation of the pleasure of throwing oneself into passion.

“Transmission” – Dynastar Skis

From one generation to the next, freeride lives on. Dynastar is passing on some important wisdom in their 2024 film, “Transmission.”

“Farming Turns” – Chris Rubens & Picture Organic Clothing

Chris Rubens has been a legend in the world of freeskiing for over a decade. Now, he’s changed his life and his job in an inspiring way.

“Here 4 Now” – Ross Tester

Freeride World Tour phenom Ross Tester has stepped away from competition and into the film world. Looks like we’re in for a few epic lines and fantastic camera work from Tester and crew.

“The Harvest” – Joey Kraft

Joey Kraft and friends are back with another feature, titled “The Harvest.” This British Columbia-based film goes from the backcountry to the streets following several heavy-hitting riders.

“Counting to Three: Megan Oldham’s Story” – Julien Eustache & Megan Oldham, Blue Max Media

As one of freeskiing’s most prolific comp skiers, Megan Oldham certainly has a story to tell. This full-length documentary drops this November on Monster Energy’s YouTube page.

“Caldor” – Josh Daiek

After the Caldor Fire ravaged California, Josh Daiek and his surrounding community were left in a traumatizing situation. This is a story of destruction, tragedy and renewal in the American West.

“absORB” – OS Crew

The OS Crew is back with this hard-hitting street film. There might even be a backcountry kicker in there somewhere, who’s to say?

“Going East” – Arc’teryx

The mission is simple: travel as far east as possible using only public transport. Oh, and make a ski film along the way. The project looks like a creative quest in its finest form.

“What’s Your Number?” – LINE Skis

A new film from the LINE freeride team, this art project looks like an insane blend of cinematic ingenuity and ski glory. There’s a slim chance this is not one of the best films of the year.

“Circle of Madness” – The North Face

Markus Eder and Victor de Le Rue have joined forces to bring freeride skiing and snowboarding together in the wild terrain of Alaska. Eder is one of the most versatile riders on earth, and we’re thrilled to see him painting lines in AK.
