Freeskier survives massive avalanche with help from ABS airbag

October 8th, 2013 by

While avalanche videos should never be glorified, especially with the increase in avalanche and backcountry related deaths in recent years, this video from ABS shows that in some cases an avalanche airbag can aid in saving one’s life in the event of a slide. This video airs on the side of dramatic—complete with slow-motion product shots and some heavy tunes—yet the bottom line is this: In this instance, the product worked like it was supposed to and Aymar Navarro was fortunate to walk away. The slide occured on the 2,802-meter high Tuc de Barloguera in the Spanish Pyrenees.
