East Coast avalanche roars through Quebec’s Chic Choc mountains

Did you know avalanches occur in the East? They do. And they can be just as big and terrifying as anywhere else in the world, as seen by Ski The East’s latest video. The Working for the Weekend episode captures three experienced skiers in Quebec’s Chic Choc mountains who assessed the snowpack and made a detailed plan, but got caught in an unfortunate situation—triggering a massive slide. Fortunately, with the exception of one minor leg injury, the crew made it out safely—humbled by the close-call situation.

Skiers: No matter where you are, let this video serve as yet another reminder that the backcountry is incredibly dangerous. Know before you go and always have a plan.
