Press Release

The Smoking Aces Freestyle Tour is back inaction this winter with stops at Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Whitefish Mountain Resort and Big Sky Resort. This is the third year of the Smoking Aces Tour and the second year that Big Sky will host the Tour Championship.

The Smoking Aces Tour is a multi-stop slopestyle event where skiers and snowboarders compete in a judged format for cash, prizes, and of course bragging rights. According to Billy Marcial, Tour Director for the Smoking Aces Tour, greater commitments from sponsors means even larger event purses in 2016. “Thanks to our primary sponsors American Bank, 7B Board Sports, Whitefish Therapy & Sport Center and World Boards, the tour will be bigger than ever” says Marcial. Support from local communities and sponsors have been the key to making the freestyle tour a success. “The support from the host resorts and local businesses has been amazing. Last year’s events were all well attended, with more than 70 athletes dazzling hundreds of spectators. This season the total purse for the tour will top out at more than $10,000 in cash and prizes, so we’re expecting larger crowds.”

The 2016 Smoking Aces Tour is kicking off with the “Ante Up Slopestyle” at Schweitzer Mountain Resort on January 23rd. Schweitzer Mountain Resort is at the forefront of slopestyle and terrain park progression with featured segments in award-winning ski films by Poor Boyz Productions and Level 1 Films.

On February 20th Whitefish Mountain Resort will play host to the second stop of the tour, the “Full House Slopestyle.” The Fishbowl Terrain Park at Whitefish Mountain Resort has variety of features in the Armory and Central Ave terrain parks. This event is a must-attend stop of the 2016 Smoking Aces Tour, and promises to bring the fun.

The 2016 Smoking Aces Tour comes to a close at the “Royal Flush Championship Slopestyle” at Big Sky Resort on March 19th. The final event of the season is sure to showcase some of the best features and riding in the region. There will be course options to suite every age and skill level.

These events are open to all skiers and snowboarders and spectators are welcome. No participation in any prior Smoking Aces Tour events is necessary to compete in any of the Smoking Aces Tour stops. Information on lodging deals with each of the host resorts is available on the Smoking Aces Tour website, smokingacestour.com.
