Last Week the students of Windells Academy climbed in a van and headed south to the warm waters of So Cal. The first leg of the trip was spent in Santa Cruz with , surfing off the board walk and a tour of Sessions headquarters, where the students saw the future lines and the details of design. Next, twenty seven miles of scenic beauty was enjoyed by all while posted up in Malibu. An early morning surf sesh off a great point break, rolled into an afternoon at Venice beach to hang out with the rest of the sideshows. We grabbed a burger at Cafe 101 in Hollywood and saw a few stars before touring the strip and heading further south to the O.C. There the roller coasters at Knott’s Berry Farms were stopped on a few occasions, due to the students and coaches, sneaking Go-Pros on trying to get the shot. The day could have only been topped by catching a few more waves at Huntington Beach and an epic dinner at Mid-Evil Times. A court of crowned royalty, gallant knights and warriors were illuminated by a laser light show, while wenches served us hungry thrill seekers food with no forks. The next day the Windells Academy popped in at Chuck Dent Surfboards where they caught a few lessons in surfboard construction, history, and industry. Lunch was cooked at Newport Beach where the breaks were ripping. The So Cal Surf trip would turn north, returning to the Hood, its new park off the Mile, and the foot of fresh coming our way….. See you this summer!
