Thanksjibbing rail jam set to take place Friday, November 29 at Snowmass, CO

Aspen/Snowmass will be holding the Thanksjibbing rail jam at the Snowmass Base Village on Friday, November 29. The rail jam is an invite-only event, featuring local skiers Matt Walker, Alex Ferreira, and Peter Olenick. The event begins at 2 p.m., and will be made up of a 45-minute jam style heat, followed by a 20-minute final. There will also be a slew of activities in the Snowmass Base Village to enjoy before, during, and after the rail jam.

Thanksjibbing will kick-off the season of Aspen/Snowmass events on Friday, November 29 in Snowmass Base Village. The rail jam will take place starting at 2 p.m. Thanksjibbing is an invite-only event that will consist of a 45-minute jam session with both skiers and snowboarders, followed by a 20-minute final. The event will give spectators the chance to watch esteemed local riders and skiers including Matt Walker, Alex Ferreira, Peter Olenick, Blake Axelson and Red Gerard

In addition to the rail jam check out the post-Thanksgiving action in Base Village with kids activities, a bouncy castle, turkey bowling, a restaurant leftover challenge, a live DJ and more. Local restaurants will be offering up their best Thanksgiving-themed treats. To participate in the turkey bowling, bring a nonperishable food item or donation for Lift Up. Turkey bowling will consist of rolling a frozen turkey at pins to win prizes from the new Snowmass Village bowling alley.

1:00 p.m. – 4 p.m. – DJ Ronnie, children’s activities, bouncy castle, turkey bowling and more
2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. – Thankjibbing Jam Session
2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Thanksgiving Leftover Challenge
2:50 p.m. – 3:10 p.m. – Thanksjibbing Finals
3:15 p.m. – Awards

The first Bud Light Hi-Fi Concert of the season featuring Elephant Revival, will take place on Saturday, November 30 at 6 p.m. in upper Gondola Plaza at the base of Aspen Mountain. Elephant Revival reigns from Nederland, CO and their style of music is often referred to as “transcendental folk,” which incorporates elements of Scottish/Celtic fiddle tunes, original folk pieces, traditional ballads, bluegrass, psychedelic country, indie rock, reggae, 40s/50s jazz standards and an occasional hip-hop beat. All members of the band are multi-instrumentalists and contribute vocals and to songwriting. The Ajax Tavern will have beer garden with $4 Bud and Bud Light specials throughout the event.
