AS SEEN IN THE OCTOBER, 2011 ISSUE OF FREESKIER.

WORDS BY PALLY LEARMOND.

Inspired by footage from Nitro Circus, the Legs of Steel crew decided to create the ultimate ski crossover session and built a triple feature with 21-, 25- and 30-meter kickers designed with precise angles and trajectories that allowed the skiers to take off at exactly the same time and cross in the air without crashing into each other. It was gnarly as hell watching the first few practice hits, but when I realized that the feature worked perfectly I could enjoy shooting one of the sickest things I’ve ever seen!

This shot frames Fabio Studer, Bene Mayr and Antti Ollila, just three of a 13-skier train practicing before the Red Bull Cineflex heli arrived. This was my only chance to be near the setup to frame the riders above the surrounding rocks. When the chopper started filming I had to move out of the shot and the framing didn’t work as well, but I was stoked to put away the camera and watch things go down.

The real proof though is in the footage and the segment will not fail to impress. You might see triple corked 1440s in other movies, but it’s only in LOS’s flick that you’ll be uttering the words, ‘’Triple double 10s, what!?’’
