Vail, Colorado’s Snow Daze festival is just around the corner—December 9-11, 2016—and for those who will be making the trek to the area, might we suggest shacking up in grand fashion?

Most ski resorts wait until well into the season to pull out the festival card but Vail kicks the year off right with its three-day Snow Daze extravaganza in early December. Over the course of a rockin’ three-day weekend, you have the opportunity to ski the vast terrain of both Vail and Beaver Creek and have the time of your life between the various bars, restaurants and multiple free concerts. The 2016 musical line-up features the likes of the Michael Franti Trio, Lettuce, Turntable Review and Marvel Years.

Now, a typical day amid the Snow Daze festival might look something like this: Crush Vail or Beaver Creek in the early part of the day; cruise through the expo village at Vail in the afternoon; slip into one of the many après parties in Vail Village or Lionshead to take down a few beverages; then, once properly lubricated, catch the free concerts.

One way to ensure your days start off and wrap up in anything but typical fashion: Launch off from, and retreat to, a crash pad of the fanciest sort.

The FREESKIER squadron recently enjoyed a stay at a luxury mansion in Beaver Creek; Village Walk 55, as it’s known, is one of 250-plus vacation residences in and around Beaver Creek operated by Beaver Creek Mountain Lodging by East West, and we certify the unit is fit for royalty (and also avid skiers looking to vacation in style). Whether you opt to shack up here amid Snow Daze (the property is a 15 minute clip from downtown Vail, by car or bus) or anytime throughout the 2016-17 season (it’s just a stone’s throw from the Village at Beaver Creek, and also offers ski-in, ski-out access to the resort), you’ll receive a lifetime of kudos from friends for lining up digs so plush.

The four bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom home comfortably sleeps up to 10 people, ensuring costs are reasonable after you split the bill. Features include—as aforementioned—ski-in/ski-out access to Beaver Creek; a private patio and hot tub; a two-story central living area with vaulted ceilings and mountain-modern décor; a gourmet kitchen featuring Viking and Sub Zero appliances; a lower level media room and wet bar, and so much more. The rich walnut floors and granite and limestone accents found throughout the house are a nice touch, as are the large windows allowing for floods of natural light to shine through. Don’t skimp on the lodgings when you head to Vail/Beaver Creek for the festival (or anytime this season). It’s Vail, after all. It’s also vacation. Don’t forget to #treatyoself.
