FROSTGUN to be held in Val d’Isere for the first time

One of the most prestigious big air events in Europe, FROSTGUN, will be held for the first time in Val d’Isere, France. On February 15th James Woods, Kai Mahler, Russ Henshaw, Elias Ambuhl, and many more athletes will compete for the title.

FROSTGUN was recently upgraded to Platinum Level on the AFP World Tour, placing it at the same level as the X Games and the DEW Tour. This makes it the first and only single big air event to reach Platinum Level.

This year, the designers from “Scandinavian Shapers/SnowConcept” added a twist to the landing of this already big jump. Instead of having a single landing, they added a second one with a Channel Gap in between making it more technical and challenging for the athletes.

The designers are best known for work used in The Olympics in Vancouver 2010, Torino 2006, Salt Lake City 2002, Jon Olsson Invitational, The Arctic Challenge, and in the 2011 Snowboard World Championships. The team is also set to design the freestyle slopes for The Olympics in Sochi 2014.

Skiing won’t be the only main event. DJs from Holland, Sweden, France, UK, and Denmark are all attending FROSTGUN making it an exciting weekend for anyone.
