LAST. SEASON’S. SNOW. WAS. EPIC.

Resorts broke records daily as La Niña dropped foot after foot on the West throughout the 2010/11 season. While a lot of America quivered at the thought of another foot of snow falling on their driveways, for us, there could be no better news.

As a nod to the welcome ferocities of a La Niña winter, we compiled this year’s best resorts, steeps and powder based off of last year’s snow totals and weather patterns. With rumors of another, albeit calmer, La Niña en route this winter, the resorts we have called out in this year’s Guide are sure to deliver once again.

So pack the car and get exploring. The mountains await.

RESORT DIRECTORY

Don't miss the 2011-2012 Freeskier Resort Directory, featuring more information on 12 rockin' ski areas around North America.

The information in this Resort Directory is meant as a tool for the reader to research and plan for, and maybe let off a little mental steam before, this season. Few resorts can claim to be in the highest percentile of North America’s hundreds of resorts, which isn’t meant to take away from those not included in the Freeskier Resort Guide.

Each resort, from South to North and East to West, has its own niche. At each resort no matter how small, you can get off the lift and let gravity pull you down the hill, which is the basic premise of skiing. So dive into this extra information as an added bonus to our Resort Guide and start planning your winter trips before that nervous energy makes you scratch holes in your skin like an addict kept from their drug of choice.
