Today, Tuesday, October 29, 2013, marks 100 days to the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, the first Winter Olympic Games to include the slopestyle and halfpipe skiing disciplines. A handful of Olympic hopefuls were on hand at The Today Show to talk about the upcoming Games; among them, Torin Yater-Wallace.
In what may become a trend in the mainstream media heading up to, and during the Games, there will be misconceptions regarding halfpipe and slopestyle skiing, due to a lack of familiarity with the sports. On the show, Torin is asked, “It’s a little similar to snowboarding in the halfpipe, right? Are the tricks any different?” Torin goes on to explain the differences, stating that skiing may provide a little more room for variation in the tricks, whether it be different grabs, etc…
