For 2016-17, Smith took its highly acclaimed sunglass lens technology, ChromaPop, and put it to use in its line of goggles, including the I/O7. We’re sure as hell not mad about that. ChromaPop filters light at two specific wavelengths for a boost in color contrast and optical clarity, which is essential when flushing out your route atop that burly line. Should you ever need to swap lenses, a switch on the top of the I/O7’s frame pops the lens out and secures its replacement quickly and without hassle. To ensure that impeccable ChromaPop-inspired view isn’t compromised by fog, you’ll need ventilation. Thankfully, the curvature of the I/O7’s frame is matched precisely to that of Smith’s Vantage helmet, allowing the helmet’s venting system to align with the goggle’s.

Using dual vent switches for control, cool air is drawn through external vents and exits via the top and rear openings to regulate temperature. Additionally, Koroyd—a highly breathable and impact-resistant material made up of thermally-welded co-polymer tubes—defends your brain and aids in keeping you cool. The Vantage is a hybrid helmet, combining a bomber ABS construction up top with a lighter weight, in-mold construction on the bottom. MIPS is available in select colorways and a 360-degree BOA fit system seals the deal.
