Elvis Eidsvold Harsheim from Norway won the Glacier 3000 Invitational, one of the first freeskier competitions of this winter season. The third edition of the Invitational at Glacier 3000, the only glacier skiing area in the Bernese Oberland, was a successful event for spectators as well.

The best freeskiers competed on the Big-Line at the Glacier 3000 Snowpark. 22 riders came from 6 different countries and among them were 11 from Switzerland. The competition gave participants a chance to personally assess their current skill level. They fought hard and demonstrated their wide range of abilities.

In the Slopestyle Contest there were 2 runs per rider. Elvis Eidsvold Harsheim was the rider that received the highest number of points from the judges and therefore became the “King of Glacier 3000” and received 5’000 Swiss francs in prize money. The 18-year old Norwegian was ahead of Phil Casabon (CAN) and the title hero of our first digimag Kim Boberg (SWE). The best Swiss riders were Elias Ambühl and Andri Ambühl that came in 7th and 8th place, respectively.

Comments from Elias Ambühl (SUI): “I really liked the three days of the Glacier 3000 Invitational. This competition, the first one of the season on natural snow, offered a welcome change to the City contests. I am also very pleased with my results.”.

Lots of spectators took the opportunity to watch the event up close on the Glacier and to enjoy the spectacular show that has led many to become fascinated by this unique sport.
