Taylor Lessard wins scratch ticket #2

The second scratch ticket has been found, and this one goes to 14-year-old Taylor Lessard from Woodstock, Vermont.

If you’re in need of some good luck, talk to Taylor, who may be just about the luckiest man on Earth right now. Not only did Taylor score a magic ticket, he got it in a seriously roundabout way.

Taylor’s dad bid on a pair of skis at an auction to raise money for Taylor’s ski team at Suicide Six Ski Area. The skis were intended to be Taylor’s Christmas present.

The Lessards won the auction, but the skis were too short, so they took them to their favorite local shop, Henderson’s Skis & Snowboards in Quechee, VT, to trade them for something different. Taylor’s dad upgraded to a K2 Silencer, and suddenly found himself in possession of a winning golden ticket.

“Were going to wrap them up and give them to him at Christmas, but we just couldn’t wait,” says Taylor’s mom. So on Monday night, Taylor’s parents sprung the world’s best early Christmas present on him.

“At first I didn’t believe any of it, I thought it was a joke.” he says. “It’s almost too good to believe.”

“The entire experience was pretty amazing,” says the shop owner Jack Henderson. “It was only the second ticket we’ve scratched here at the store and it turned out to be a winner. We get a lot of pretty affluent costumers from Connecticut with five houses and what-not but Kevin [Taylor’s dad] is a great guy. A real, down to earth local guy who always stops in. It couldn’t have happened to a better person.”

Taylor is a freshman at Woodstock Union High School, and he’s been racing at Suicide Six since he was 7. When Taylor gets out for a few laps to freeski in the park, he’s always been riding old slalom race skis.

“This is my first pair of twin tips. Usually I just have an old pair of race skis that I fool around on.”

Well, Taylor, if you outlast the competition at the K2 factory, you may be riding new K2’s for the rest of your life.
