Freeskier Ski Test Days 4 and 5

Over here at Copper Mountain, all the hubbub was about days four and five of the Freeskier Magazine Ski Test (or Ski Fest 2009). The wind decided to pick up to a casual 35-75 mph and on Friday, the clouds moved in, making testing not only more challenging, but way more interesting.

On day four, while the sun was shining and the air temperature was pretty warm, the wind was whipping so hard that Copper Mountain had to close part of the mountain down, due to Breck-esque winds. This didn’t slow the testers down one bit, as the talented and seasoned crew ripped through all the skis that were offered up. Afterbanging, helmet-cams, pow slashes, and 80s gear were all apart of the day. And after a long successful day of riding, we decided to cap it off nicely with pizza and beer from Pizza Carlo, right in the heart of Copper Mountain.

Day five brought a little less wind, but a few more clouds, and a promising future of snow. Rock solid conditions made it easy for testers to rail the skis and find out exactly what they’re made of and what their threshold really is. As the day wound down, the promise of snow on the horizon has the testers in a anxious frenzy.

Days four and five were another success at Copper Mountain here at the 2009 Freeskier Ski Test. There was also a ton more pictures, but then my camera decided to corrupt a bunch of files that could not be recovered. Choices.
